Sirohi Goats: Breeding Purpose





The Sirohi goats are medium to large sized animals with compact body. They are very beautiful, and mainly have brown colored coat with dark or light brown patches. Individuals of other color (such as black or completely white) are also available. They have medium-sized flat leaf-like dropping ears, and most of the goats are wattled.

Usually female goat (doe) kids twice a year. In each birth 40% of single and 60% of twins are expected. In Sirohi breed, the first kidding starts at 19-20 months of age and birth weight of kid is 2kg at birth.

Each Sirohi gives an average milk of 0.5-0.6 liters of milk per day. Lactation period is of approximately 4 months with milk yield of 70 l.

The Sirohi goats are very hardy animals, and they can withstand in almost all climatic conditions. They are generally very suitable for commercial goat farming business (either for meat or for milk),  If you can provide them with nutrition enriched diet, they will grow rapidly and produce more milk.
